Meindert’s journey began on the squash courts of the Netherlands. As a member of the Dutch squash selection, he spent his weekends competing in junior tournaments across Western Europe, later playing in the Dutch Premier League and the Bundesliga in Germany. Squash wasn’t just a sport—it shaped how he traveled, competed, and connected with people.
Fast forward 20 years.
Travel had become a constant in Meindert’s life, often with his family, taking him to destinations around the world. Yet no matter where he went, something always felt incomplete: the experience was missing time on court and connection through sport.
In 2022, as global travel returned, Meindert decided to change that. He set out to create experiences that combined high-level racket sports, world-class destinations, and meaningful connections with people who share the same passion. That idea became Squash Retreats.
Working alongside some of the most accomplished squash players in the world, Squash Retreats quickly became known for immersive experiences that blended serious play, access to the sport’s biggest stages, and thoughtful travel. It wasn’t about camps or clinics—it was about experiencing the game at its highest level, both on and off the court.
Along the way, Meindert discovered padel later in life. What started as curiosity quickly became a genuine passion for the game and its social, energetic nature. At the same time, his long-standing love for tennis—especially watching the sport at its biggest tournaments—continued to grow.
As the vision expanded beyond a single sport, Squash Retreats evolved into Racquet Haven.
Today, Racquet Haven brings together squash and padel retreats in standout destinations around the world, while tennis is offered through private, bespoke bucket-list experiences built entirely around the client. Different sports, same philosophy: play alongside legends, watch the best in the world compete, stay in carefully selected hotels, and experience destinations worth traveling for.
